Jimmy Choo launched ICONS, a capsule collection of shoes inspired by the most significant creations from the company's archives.
"I wanted to create a modern capsule collection inspired by memorable styles from our history that represented milestone moments for the brand and embody the DNA of our house style. These modern interpretations of classic designs represent the iconic glamour of Jimmy Choo today."Tamara Mellon said.
The launch marks the brand’s 15-year anniversary and coincides with the release of Jimmy Choo XV, a coffee table book that anthologizes the shoes’ creation through sketches and internal documentation, photo spreads by Mario Testino and Terry Richardson, and paparazzi shots. Sales from the book will go toward the Jimmy Choo Foundation.
The Icons collection reinterprets the classic originals into modern day collectors’ items. The Feather shoe from Sex and the City has been reconceived as a platform sandal in violet suede with hand applied peacock-blue feathers studded with crystals. The original Murial sandal that featured a gold embellished flower has been re-imagined in zebra-print pony and topped with a red-silk corsage. AndFleur, the classic pointy-toe stiletto, has been re-executed in metallic fuchsia leather with laser-cut detailing. Each shoe from the collection comes in a special commemorative box that includes a card explaining the heritage of the item. 10% of the net sales will be donated to the Jimmy Choo Foundation.
Among the Icons collection are the famous suede and feather platform that Carrie Bradshaw lost running to catch the Staten Island Ferry in the third season of Sex and the City, the zebra print boot created to celebrate the brand’s entry onto the U.S. red carpet, and a pointy-toe stiletto pump Tamara Mellon wore when she received an OBE.
